Highlights of the collection include the letters of Alexander Swift(Sandie) Pendleton, a Washington College graduate who was a top aide to Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson during the American Civil War. A carte de visite sized engraving of General John B. Floyd in uniform by engraver 'Chas. Magnus, 12 Frankfort St, NY.' The image of Floyd is bordered by a decorative red oval. It resembles a trading card. Floyd was 31st governor of Virginia and a Confederate general in the American Civil War.
